As the temperature starts to drop and the leaves begin to fall to the ground, the season has certainly changed to Autumn.

October can be a busy time for you and your home, there’s preparing your home for Halloween and the adverts are starting to show ‘Delivered in time for Christmas’ meaning that Christmas isn’t too far away. Is it time to get your new carpet, furniture or new sofa ordered?

With Halloween on the 31st October, street names such as Black Cat Drive and Coffin Close become known more so than ever. I wondered if you were looking to buy or rent a property on one of these streets would its name put you off? Or do you think it gives character and personality to your property? With the changing season, now is the time to make sure you home is ready for the colder winter months ahead, such as draught proofing and maximising the heat in your home. Check out our top tips on how to keep your home warmer for longer:

  • Curtains – Blackout curtains are brilliant for keeping the light out and the warm inside your room. They have Thermal lining which should keep heat inside the room.
  • Draught excluders – These are great for keeping mini draughts out of each room, you can buy some gorgeous draught excluders which add personality and character in any room.
  • Shelving – If you’ve been thinking about add a shelf or two around your home, why not add a shelf above your radiator? This will help channel the heat in towards your room instead of up to the ceiling.
